In our forums, our members have been discussing older Titleist irons. WRXer ‘Forecorkens44’ has a $200 budget and wants to hear from fellow members who have been sharing their best picks in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- cgasucks: “It really depends on whether you want a cast or forged iron. Pre early 2000s Titleist made cast irons for the retail mass market (unless you were Tiger); since I’m biased I prefer the 990s since I think they have a better feel than the 962s. When Titleist started to offer forged irons regularly, the 680s were quite the cult classic, so much so that they re-released them in very limited numbers some years ago. To meet your budget, it will have to be a cast iron.”
- iknowbagu: “990, and it’s not close.”
- stevopagolf: “The original Titleist DCI Black were outstanding in the day!”
- darkman8: “Loved my 981’s but nothing compared to my set of 690 mbs. Never should have sold them years ago! Ughh.”
