Nike staffers’ new weaponry

Something you’ll only see on GolfWRX: Our Tour Photographer shot many of the bags of Nike staffers at the season-opening Safeway Open. Nike, as you know, has exited the golf equipment business.

Some staffers, Paul Casey for example, are sticking with their Swoosh-stamped weaponry. Some, however, are not, and every equipment nerd has to be interested in seeing what the Nike staffers will play now that Nike logos only adorn their clothing and bags.

Best feeling driver you’ve ever hit?

ping g-25 driver

BigPapy asks: “What is…the best ‘feeling’ driver you’ve ever played…Regardless of flight, forgiveness, distance and all those other things that matter.” An interesting question. Perhaps irrelevant, but nevertheless fun to discuss! Regardless of how it performed, which driver was the greatest pleasure to pure off the tee?

Further discussion about ditching the 3-wood

Piggybacking on Tom Stickney’s piece from the front page, Z1ggy16 did something you’ll see a fair amount in the forums: started a thread inspired by a GolfWRX article. Of course, it goes the other way too: we write front page stories based on stuff from the forums…you know, stories like this one.

Anyway, the point is, if you see a great story that has a wealth of comments, chances are they’re talking about it in the forums too. Think of this thread as a complement to the comment section, and required reading if you enjoyed the piece.

Who wins a golf announcers tournament?

Nick Faldo

Good stuff from 2bGood here, who asks: “Out of full-time golf announcers, color people, personalities, and on-course reporters, who would win a 3-day tournament? Active players that do broadcasts part-time are not eligible.”

To see what WRXers had to say, check out the thread.

Miller vs. McCordGary McCord

Much like “Tuck or no Tuck,” the debate over the most irksome announcer in golf has entrenched parties on several sides. Slicktry has reduced this list to two parties. Now, this isn’t to say that Johnny Miller and Gary McCord don’t have plenty of fans…indeed, they must (right?). However, they are two of names most frequently cited in barstool discussions of who golf fans, shall we say, prefer not to tune in to.

Check out the thread for a poll and spirited discussion regarding the matter of Miller vs. McCord.
