In our forums, our members have been discussing the merits of using a 3-wood turned up a few degrees vs a 5-wood turned down a few degrees. WRXer ‘Tmcg’ kicks off the thread with the question:

“Curious on thoughts and/or benefits of a 3-wood turned up a few degrees vs a 5-wood turned down. Would distance be similar, would one be easier to hit consistently?”

And our members have been having their say in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Tree Levino: “5-wood face will be quite open and 3-wood face will be quite close set up like this. 5-wood head is heavier and club is shorter, head is smaller. 3-wood head is lighter and head is bigger. Totally depends on your delivery and miss as to which will perform better.”
  • Bye: “I think if you are looking for something specific, you may end up without what you are looking for with both options. I’ve tried every option, the best for me was a standard loft 3 wood with a 42.5” shaft. Swing weight the same as driver.”
  • MauiCatIsFat: “I tried to do this with a HL 3W so I didn’t have to buy another club. The face is super closed and really weird to look at. I think its maybe something I could get used to but I decided to just put the burner bubble 5w back in the bag for now until I figure out what I want to do.”
