Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from Danny Choo, who began the thread where he predicted that Jordan Spieth’s worst stretch of golf is still to come. After Sunday’s meltdown from Spieth, which saw the three-time major champion shoot a final-round 81 at the Genesis Open, the thread has been lit up by our members who are keen to discuss the reason behind Spieth’s current slump.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Tend to believe today was rock bottom for Spieth. Nowhere to go but up from here. I am sure he will get it figured out.”
- rafal: “He needs to make real changes here, not sorta kinda changes but in my golfing and caddying experience I think that while the duo has got things done in the past, he needs to move on and find someone else to work with. I just see these blow-up holes and strange club choices and this incessant talking and gesturing as something his current caddie is an integral part of. He needs a fresh person on the bag.”
- OldTomMorris: “His big miss seems to be multiplying. Previously it wasn’t killing his round now it is. Of course, the putting looks ropey at times given the high bar he set, and it’s getting a lot of attention which won’t help. The shortish one he missed on 6 (I think it was 6) yesterday was disconcerting.”
- bladehunter: “Definitely hard to watch. Mentally checked out after the shank. At least he’s stayed on the course. Other top-level players have walked off the course in same or less severe situations. Clearly more mental work to do than I saw originally. But it has nothing to do with mechanics. This is all between the ears.”
