Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from Nachosgrande, who asks fellow GolfWRX members whether they believe Dustin Johnson’s current swing could give him trouble later down the road in his career. The majority of our members think his long and languid swing won’t cause any issues in the future, although some of our members do have concerns.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • BearQ: “I think he will hold up okay…but he has to start dialing it back at some point. I’ve never seen him mix up the full swing shots though. True feelers and punches. Its always such rockets with his athleticism and a punch swing is still almost at parallel. I think if he transitions closer to senior tour days he’ll actually still have elite rotation and width like a VJ/Couples did.”
  • VNutz: “As someone who deals with a cranky back I’ve got concerns. Just watching him swing sometimes makes me wince. At some point, flexibility begins to wain for everyone. But he’s as athletically gifted and works as hard to be fit as anybody out there. If anybody can do it, it’s him. He has had two supposed back injuries already, the stair slipping accident before The Masters in 2017 and (if you believe his story) the “jet ski” incident from several years back. Neither were golf induced though, but any back injury doesn’t bode well for a golfer.”
  • webjr: “If he stays with Butch Harmon, he’ll be fine.  Butch works with what’s there and doesn’t try to change the entire swing at one time.”
  • darredondo09: “Depends on how often he takes the stairs.”
