Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from msupel, who asked fellow members if they were to make any changes to Augusta National, what would they be? Our members give their view, with some suggestion subtle changes, and others entirely satisfied with the course just the way it is.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- King_Slender: “They could move the bunker on 8 – that’s essentially what they did with the bunkers on 5, moving them back like 15-20 yards when they moved the tee back, so they were in the same landing area. I think it’s fine where it is – one of the beauties of Augusta is that all the Par 5’s can be hit in 2 by 95% of the field if you hit the fairway.”
- AmazinBlue: “I think they need to move the 13th green and the tributary to Rae’s Creek back about 45 yards and the tee back about 25 yards. Since moving the green and the creek is nearly impossible, They should back the tee up about 70 yards and move it to the left. The hole has become ridiculously easy. Everyone that lands their tee shot on grass can get there in 2. It is supposed to be a risk/reward hole.”
- pmadden86: “The changes they made to #5 were brilliant, I saw some guys hitting woods and 4 irons into that green when they flared their tee shot right. 13 and 15 – DO NOT CHANGE! Both are brilliant risk-reward holes just the way they are. Only change I’d like to see is 17th being driveable; it’s very meh since the tree came down.”
- MilkyButterCuts: “There should be no rough what so ever. That’s how the course is meant to be played.”
