Ball on the fringe of the green and pin is 15 feet from the fringe – What club do you use GolfWRXers?

In our forums, our members have been discussing the club they use when the ball is on the fringe, and the pin is 15 feet away. WRXer ‘jjfcpa’ says:

“I typically try to use a wedge and put the ball on the back foot and chip it low.

I see some golfers try to use a putter and that usually turns out bad because it’s so hard to judge how hard to hit it through the fringe and get enough roll out.”

And asks members what club they use.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Chadwickog: “Wedge, unless the pin is downhill.”
  • jvincent: “Generally lie dependent, but 9 times out of 10 I’ll use putter. More consistent distance control than with a wedge.”
  • arenapoutine: “Hybrid! Gets it to bump over the fringe and still plays like a putt.”
  • Chuck905: “3 wood putting stroke. Made too many countless birdies and eagles this way, so why change it? I’ve even used 3 wood from 10 yards off the fairway too put it into tap in range.”
  • getitdaily: “Almost always a putter. Exception would be if the fringe has a ball mark or other big imperfection that would move the
  • ball offline. Only other play would be a 54 wedge chip.”
