Mizuno Golf’s 923 iron family have made an appearance in our forums, with the clubs dropping this week on the brand’s Japanese website.
The lineup features the JPX 923 Hot Metal (RH,LH), 923 Hot Metal Pro, 923 Hot Metal HL, 923 Tour, 923 Forged (RH,LH) and 923 Fli-Hi.
Per Mizuno, the JPX 923 Tour irons feature copper plating for the first time, with sound ribs and a V-chassis cavity designed with Harmonic Impact Technology to increase the rigidity of the top edge in design to achieve a comfortable hitting feel.
The top edge of the iron is designed to be thin, and the back side of the top edge is ground to make it look sharper. Mizuno has increased bounce angle over its predecessor, and to compensate, they have increased the grind on the trailing edge of the sole and made it rounder to improve the slipping of the sole.
According to Mizuno, the 923 Hot Metal, Hot Metal Pro and Hot Metal HL irons feature a new material – ‘nickel chrome molybdenum steel’ – that the company say is about 35% stronger than conventional products.

In addition, the irons contain the thinnest “New Core Tech Face” in the history of JPX irons, which is about 8% thinner than competitive products and is designed to improve flight distance performance.

The JPX 923 Forged features the same V chassis designed with Harmonic Impact Technology as the Tour and contains the thinnest face in the history of JPX forged irons, which is about 15% thinner than competitive products.

The 923 Fli-Hi features a shallow shape and a deep center of gravity in design so that the ball can easily rise, aided by a deep center of gravity design with a utility shape to further provide high trajectory characteristics.
