In our forums, our members have been weighing up having a 9-wood in the bag against a 5-hybrid. WRXer ‘aoo’ kicks off the thread with the question:
“Recently purchased 4 wood and 7 wood to replace my 3 wood, 5 wood and 4 hybrid. Was going to maintain my 5 hybrid but am now intrigued by going with a 9 wood to replace the 5 hybrid.
Has anyone done this? Or have any thoughts about going this route?”
And our members have been sharing their thoughts and own experiences in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- animalgolfs: “Play both – few more yards carry with 9wd…..stops quicker – 5h rolls out little more, better into strong wind…better for punch outs.”
- Ca3l: “Might as well see how you like the 7 wood before you decide. If you feel like you don’t get enough launch or can’t hold greens with the hybrid then the 9 wood is probably in your future.”
- Nickb333: “I used a 9w for a short time. Super easy to hit but always felt like a one trick pony to me. 5h is more versatile for me.”
- tbowles411: “I play both now. It’s just easier to get the ball in the air. I found the 9w to be a bit easier to use around the greens because of the loft getting the ball in the air and rolling. Takes some practice, but it’s cool to use.”
